Webinars
In collaboration with the Army Research Office’s PIA partner, the Virginia Tech Applied Research corporation, the Army STTR program will host a series of virtual webinars. These events aim to educate prospective STTR applicants on Army needs and the Army STTR program and provide networking opportunities for small businesses and researchers to meet potential partners.
Industry Day
The Army STTR program will host a virtual “Industry Day”. This event is intended to facilitate small businesses and researchers meeting to potentially partner on STTR proposals. The event will include plenary speakers, Q&A sessions with topic authors, and networking opportunities. Event schedule and registration details are forthcoming!
Army STTR RI Outreach Panel
Join us for an overview of the upcoming 2024 Army STTR solicitation and have a chance to network with your fellow Research Instutition’s about strategies and methods to get the most out of your STTR. We’ll be presenting an overview of the Army STTR program, advice for finding the right small business partner, and results of VT-ARC’s interviews and outreach to successful STTR awardees and state level support programs for STTR/SBIR. We’ll also have representatives of the research institution STTR ecosystem talk about their programs and inspire different approaches for research institutions to approach and succeed with their STTR.

STTR Focus Groups - Small Businesses
Join our Army STTR focus group to help us gather feedback from small businesses on their experience with the Army STTR process. The focus groups will be conducted over Zoom, moderated by VT-ARC.
Your feedback is important and will be used to help improve and tailor next year’s outreach and support.
Our focus groups are designed to offer you the opportunity to discuss this year’s solicitation process with your peers and VT-ARC facilitators in order to provide direct feedback on your experience with the STTR process.

These events are open to all who qualify as a research group (US based non profit university, non profit research center, FFRDC).

Contracting Q&A
Join us for our upcoming Army 23.B STTR Webinar: Contracting Q&A.
With the BAA closing June 14th at noon, this is a great chance to get feedback on all those contracting questions you want answered for Army STTR. The webinar will solely be focused on contracting Q&A and as such networking will be limited. Please feel free to submit questions ahead of time or in the chat.

Diversity Equity & Inclusion in Army STTR
The Army STTR Webinar 3 for the 23.B series will be held on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 starting at 1PM.
Our webinar, DEI in STTR, features successful researchers and topic authors from minority institutions who are currently working with Army STTR. This is a great opportunity for small businesses and researchers to meet potential partners and connect with researchers from underrepresented universities. More details to be announced
The event will feature speakers who will share their experiences of support by the Army STTR program and best practices for building communities with minority institutions. Their insights will highlight the importance of these values in driving innovation and building successful relationships with the Army.
Virtual Industry Day
Industry Day will feature live sessions with topic authors of the 23.B Solicitation. TPOC's representing all 24 proposals will be available to answer technical questions about their topics.
Topics cover subjects including Advanced Batteries and Fuel Cells, Trustworthy AI, Personal Protective Equipment, Thermal Management… and more!
Over the two-day event you can hear from each of the topic authors on what they look for in a successful proposal. This event will present important information to help prospective STTR applicants submit a quality proposal. There will also be opportunities to learn and ask questions about the STTR proposal and contracting process.

This information and networking webinar will feature an overview of best practices for communicating with topic authors, do’s and don’ts of reaching out to TPOC’s, and tips on how to make the pre-release solicitation period meaningful for you.

Army STTR 23.B Series Kickoff Webinar 1
This information and networking webinar will feature an introduction to the Army STTR program, including major changes for 2023, given by Michael Caccuitto, Branch Chief, Technology Integration and Outreach, DEVCOM ARL Army Research Office.
The seminar will also feature a talk from VT-ARC’s own Matthew Bigman on Army STTR partnerships, including: what kinds of partnerships to look for, how to identify specific partners, and some best practices in reaching out to prospective partners.
